Noah Scott asked:

What’s new for General Motor’s? Well aside from unveiling new vehicles in recent domestic and international auto shows and manufacturing quality GM parts like GM running board, GM’s Cadillac NASCAR team also got something new for racing fans.

GM’s Team Cadillac has recently signed Jimmie Johnson, the current NASCAR Nextel Cup series champion to drive the No. 16 Cadillac CTS-V in the forthcoming SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT that will take place at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway) later in May 2007.

Here is what Jimmie Johnson said in a GM official press release:

“I’ve driven thousands of laps at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and enjoyed success there, but it’s going to be a new experience for me to turn right as well as left when I race in the SPEED GT event in Charlotte. I’ve always enjoyed driving different kinds of vehicles, so I’m looking forward to racing against sports cars with the Cadillac CTS-V sedan.”

“When I tested with Team Cadillac on the Sebring road course in February, I discovered that the Cadillac CTS-V race car’s handling and braking are similar to the setups we use in NASCAR Nextel Cup road races. I’m hoping that my experience at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will benefit the team because we only have one day to practice, qualify and race,” he continued. “I really enjoyed working with the Team Cadillac crew and my teammates Andy Pilgrim and Lawson Aschenbach during the test, and I think we’ll be able to get our CTS-V race cars up to speed quickly on both the oval and the road course sections at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.”

Johnson began his career as a race driver in NEXTEL Cup series in 2002 when he entered the 2002 Daytona 500 and ended up in the 15th place. He was also the runner-up for the 2002 NASCAR Rookie of the Year. Johnson currently pilots the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Hendrick Motorsports.

“We’re proud to have Jimmie as a member of the GM family, and we appreciate the cooperation between Chevrolet, Cadillac, GM Racing and Hendrick Motorsports that made this program possible.” said Steve Wesoloski, Manager of GM Road Racing Group. “This is a great opportunity to have the defending NASCAR Nextel Cup champion compete in one of our GM road racing programs, and it will certainly put the SPEED World Challenge Series in the spotlight.”

Moreover, Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor commented:

“As we’ve been reinventing and rebuilding the Cadillac brand over the past several years, we’ve made the conscious strategic decision to align Cadillac with the best of the best in everything we do. We’ll have the past two SPEED GT champions, Andy and Lawson, for the full 2007 season, and we’re absolutely thrilled to have 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Jimmie Johnson drive our third CTS-V in the upcoming Charlotte race.”

Jimmie Johnson will go aboard the Cadillac CTS-V and experience the race car’s high performance and dynamic handling coming from the monstrous 6.0-liter V8 engine pumping out 500 horses under its hood.

MERLE

Jimmy Cox asked:

Every American should know the names of the Presidents. First we list the Presidents and find substitute words for their names. Beside each president write words of similar sound. The degree of similarity in sound is an individual matter. For the person who relies greatly on the aid of sound, the substituted word must be very like that of the word to be memorized.

Then we make up a little story which includes these substituted words in order. The story might run somewhat like this:

In Washington Adam was jeopardized by a mad monster. Adam and Jack ran to the bureau, but in their hurry they broke a tile or poked a tailor. They filmed more buildings, pierced by a cannon which was linked by John to a grand tree.

The haze over garden and field sheltered Arthur, who cleaved his way in a hurry. He cleaved mockingly as he cried: “A rose taffeta dress will hardly be the right thing in a college; but whoever desires rose veils may truly wear them?”

The underlined words mean:

Washington — Washington

Adam — Adams

jeopardized — Jefferson

mad — Madison

monster	– Monroe

Adam — Adams

Jack — Jackson

bureau — Van Buren

hurry — Harrison

tile — Tyler

poked — Polk

tailor — Taylor

filmed more — Fillmore

pierced — Pierce

by a cannon — Buchanan

linked — Lincoln

John — Johnson

grand — Grant

haze — Hayes

garden and field — Garfield

Arthur — Arthur

cleaved — Cleveland

hurry — Harrison

cleaved — Cleveland

mockingly — McKinley

rose — Roosevelt

taffeta — Taft

will — Wilson

hardly — Harding

college — Coolidge

whoever — Hoover

rose veils — Roosevelt

Use this small story, and you will know the Presidents of the United States.

When we work out a story embodying these substitute words just as we did in the case of the states, except that in this instance we must use them in historical order.

He cleaved mockingly as he cried: “A rose taffeta dress will hardly be the right thing in a college; but whoever desires rose veils may truly wear them?

This story is somewhat harder to learn than the one about the states, because of its prescribed order. Nevertheless, one can learn this list without special effort in half an hour, while to learn the Presidents without such aid takes much longer.

Every American is expected to know not only the names of the Presidents in chronological order but also the dates of their terms. The latter, too, is considerably lightened by mnemonics, but before we attempt it we need further preparation. We will return to its solution in a later chapter.

The following interesting version of the list of Presidents was worked out by Mr. Edwin C. Silvey. It is excellent in that it avoids many connecting words. This series, a masterpiece in phonetics, is also easy to learn:

Washing done, a dame gave her son medicine. We know Washington Adams Jefferson Madison Monroe at times that son, a wine bum, had his son dial (telephone) her: Adams Jackson Van Buren Harrison Tyler broke; tell her fill my	purse By cannon	and gun Polk Taylor Fillmore Pearce Buchanan	Lincoln John’s son groaned to haze our field. Are they Johnson Grant Hayes	Gaineld	Arthur Gleeful	and merry, son?	Cleve and Mack when they rose felt Cleveland Harrison	Cleveland McKinley Roosevelt

tough. Well, son, Hearty! College over. Who’s fooled. Taft Wilson Harding Coolidge Hoover Roosevelt

REGINALD

Larry Johnson asked:

I have always been impressed with those webmasters and others on line who do such a great job of promoting their business.

If two more-or-less equally skilled persons start a business on the internet, how is it that one of them does great and the other fails?

They must have some secret weapon that I haven’t discovered yet. At least that is what I used to think, but I was wrong.

Here are 5 characteristics with which I believe anyone can improve their promotional efforts. These are present in most all successful on line workers.

- Organization

Basically, they have a plan that they use each week to approach the task of promotion of their business.

Something as simple as a checklist of tasks and activities for each day of the week.

A simple system that they use each day, and it keeps them on track…away for distractions.

I had a good friend who used to say, “Plan your work, and work your plan”.

She was a very successful business woman that followed her own advice.

- Consistency

They have surveyed lot of on line methods and determined the ones they will use. Once they have selected those methods they stay with them.

They don’t jump around each day or so looking for the “magic bullet” with which to promote.

Hard work and consistency are keys in the daily activities of the successful on line worker.

- Determination

They aren’t easily swayed by the latest email offer on line. Although they are open to new changes and software that can improve their efficiency.

They are not distracted to the point they lose momentum in their weekly checklist of activities and tasks.

I’ll have to admit that email is a big distracter for me. If I would spend as much time promoting as I do with email, I would do a lot better job.

- Helpfulness

I think I see this attitude of wanting to share and be helpful to others in most all of the ones who have made it ‘big” on line.

Reaching back and giving a hand to someone to help them up the hill seems to come easily to many of them.

I believe it was Zig Ziglar who said, “You can have anything you want as long as your willing to help others get what they want”.

It’s a good philosophy we might all adopt.

- Faith

They believe in themselves and what they are selling. They know that their product or service is good and many will benefit from it.

They are never involved in anything that is shady, or illegal. They seem to make a great effort to select and promote legitimate items and services.

I respect that in them.

- Larry

Note: (This article may be reprinted in your newsletter or on your site by leaving the resource below box intact.)

ANDY

Any help would be most appreciated.MITCHEL

This is a reenactment of Jimmie Johnson’s 2001 Busch Series Crash at Watkins Glen. The simulation used is Nascar Racing 2003. Before anybody asks, I couldn’t find Johnson’s 2001 #02 Busch Car so I used Ryan Newman’s instead.MORGAN
