Harvick’s Star Shone the Brightest

Thursday, August 20th, 2009
Anthony Fontanelle asked:

The 2007 Nextel All-Star Challenge is all over and Kevin Harvick recorded his first win at the prestigious event. After 80 laps around the Lowe’s Motor Speedway on the 19th of this month, the Number 29 Chevrolet Pennzoil Platinum driven by Harvick bested former champions like Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Winning the race gave Harvick $1 million. His composure played a major role in winning the race after he fended off defending champion Jimmie Johnson on the latter stages of the race.

The race featuring perennial NBA All-Star player Michael Jordan as the grand marshal was fought to the end by Johnson and Harvick. After winning the race, Harvick is absolutely thrilled. “To win the All-Star race is just a lot of fun,” Harvick said. “Jimmy and I raced hard all night and I actually learned something for turn three tonight from him. Everything worked really well tonight and it’s pretty awesome to win this event.”

Meanwhile, two-time Nextel All-Star Challenge winner Jimmie Johnson is visibly disappointed by his second place finish. “We got close to that first place in the last few laps,” he said. “Our cars were about equal. Threw a lot at him, but just came up a little short. I’m a little disappointed on how we got started. We started off a little slow. I got really tight on that first run.” Although he may have lost the chance to win back-to-back All-Star wins, Johnson is already concentrating on the next race. “Looking to the 600 next week, I’m ready to come back and get started,” he added.

The third driver to cross the finish line was Mark Martin on his Chevrolet Impala. After the race, he talked about his performance at the race: “Started in the back and came up a little short after working our way to the front and getting some track position. This format is not my style. I’m not much of a short-distance racer. I’m more of a long-distance racer. The three cars there at the end were about equal. My specialty is a little more than 20 laps. There are a lot of good cars to contend with for the 600 next week.”

The dominance of Chevrolet cars in this year’s Nextel Cup Series continues in the All-Star. The top six spots after the race were taken by Chevrolet cars and eight out of the top ten are Chevrolets. Harvick, Johnson, and Martin all drove Chevrolet Impalas. Aside from them other Chevrolet drivers who made it to the top ten are Jeff Burton who finished fourth, Tony Stewart finished at fifth, Johnny Sauter finished sixth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. at ninth, and Martin Truex Jr. who finished tenth. At this rate, not even a brake component from Active Brakes Direct can stop the Chevrolet in the Nextel Cup.

Easy Ways to Prevent ******* Herpes

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009
Bill Johnson asked:

Sores. Embarrassment. A dormant virus that awakens due to stress and excess sunlight. How do you prevent ******* herpes? Well, the easy answer is to never have ***. That’s right, take a vow of celibacy and never have sexual relations with anyone. While that idea may appeal to some, for the rest of us it is simply not an option. So, barring celibacy, how do we avoid contracting ******* herpes?

Have a Chat:

Talk to your potential partner. Yes! Talk to him about STDs and getting tested before that fate-filled evening when things are too far along to stop. At that point it is too late. Think of it this way: is it easier to have a conversation about getting tested for something like ******* herpes, or is it easier to talk him after you find out he’s given it to you out of sheer lack of knowledge? Better yet, ask yourself what is more important—a moment of fun–or a lifetime without recurring painful and embarrassing sores?

Don’t Do It:

If you think you have symptoms of ******* herpes or any other sexually transmitted disease, don’t have *** with him! Don’t talk yourself into it and don’t wish the obvious away. Go get tested and get treatment before engaging in something as harmful as *** can be. On the flipside, if he is the one with the symptom, then draw a hard line until he goes and gets tested. Even if the tests are negative, you have still lowered the risks considerably. Along these lines, avoid multiple partners, because that will just double or triple your chances of getting ******* herpes or something worse.

Do Do It:

Frangers, Dingers, Socks, Wraps, Stretchy Snakeskin or whatever euphemism you use to describe a condom, find ones that you like and use them every single time you have ***. No, they are not foolproof, but they do greatly reduce the chances of contracting a sexually transmitted disease like ******* herpes. Ladies, if he won’t wear one, they do make a female variety, or you can simply say no until he warms up to the idea that putting a hat on jimmy is really not such a bad plan.

To summarize, then, if you are not planning to be celibate, then get tested and avoid anyone who is not tested. Ask the hard questions and be willing to answer them yourself. Then, break out the condoms and use them every time, and when you get bored try pink, purple or glow-in-the-dark. Whatever you do, though, do not fool around with the possibility of getting a sexually transmitted disease like ******* herpes, because there is absolutely no cure only a lifetime of painful recurring sores at the end of that journey.

He had a very good “regular season,” but nothing like he’s done in the Chase.

Do you think he just does enough to hang around until the Chase starts and saves his best for the Chase?

How did Jimmie Johnson increase his points lead over Carl Edwards on Sunday?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Beyond Sunday Morning asked:

With Carl Edwards leading laps and winning the race on Sunday (10/26/08) at Atlanta, how did Jimmie Johnson (finishing 2nd) actually gain any points on him in the Chase. It looks like Carl would have gained a few or at least they would have stayed the same distance apart in the point difference?
