Juan Pablo Montoya - NASCAR’s “trophy minority”?
Saturday, November 15th, 2008Why is it that NASCAR (and the commentators) insist on kissing JPM’s rear wing? It seems that NASCAR is going to great lengths to appease the Hispanic (and open wheel) demographic that they found with JPM.
Fact is that every week JPM is running somebody down to advance. Whether it be shooting all the way to the right to block Truex (Watkins Glen) for a mid-field position, or spinning out former champ Jimmie Johnson (Infineon) for a top 10 slot. This is what Harvick is upset with. Both Harvick and JPM get into a scuffle and neither got anything more than a slap on the wrist for their behavior? When Tony Stewart says, “BS” in a celebration, he’s fined.
I’m sorry, but there needs to be some consistency. JPM needs to remember that he still has a yellow stripe on his bumper and he needs to give respect to those who have been racing this circuit ALOT longer and have won championships ALOT sooner than he has.
